Parental Feedback & Surveys

Response to Parental feedback on ICT/Computing

Appropriate homework is regularly set in Computing. As students only have one lesson a week they do not always have homework set weekly. In Computing the class sizes are limited to 20 (because of the equipment) we operate a system of 6 classes in each side of the year.  On arrival students are placed in groups. Computing is timetabled on a carousel with Food Technology, Resistant Materials and Textiles. In Computing, regardless of which group a student is in, they are all taught the same content and all students have access to attain the highest levels no matter which class they are in. We would like to run additional lunchtime ICT clubs. Students do have the opportunity to come in to use the facilities independently at lunchtimes. Our department is made up of a lot of Heads of Year and Key Stage leaders they are not always available to run such sessions so regrettably we are unable to do this at this present time.

We are always striving to further improve Helsby High School in many ways and value your views on what we are doing well and where we might improve. Please take a few minutes to complete our ‘parent voice’ survey, letting us know what you think about our school. We listen to and act on the views we receive.

School’s Response

Parental Views and Feedback are extremely important to us at Helsby High School. We are keen to work with parents to improve our practice and review our current policies and procedures.

We hold regular Parental Forums throughout the year to discuss issue specifically asked for by parents or initiatives that we are considering or have recently been introduced in order to seek feedback.

There are parental surveys in the form of a questionnaire at each Consultation Evening and other school meetings. These cover general issues, pastoral issues and curriculum areas.
