Charity fundraising is an important part of life at HHS. Every two years the school selects a charity to support and students from all years participate in a variety of fundraising events.
Our current project is to support the charity Interburns. This charity is an international network of expert burn care professionals seeking to transform burn care and prevention in low and middle income countries through education, training, research and service delivery.
We chose to support this charity because a parent of 2 HHS pupils is directly involved with the charity. The charity is also linked to Alder Hey, a hospital which many of our pupils have links to. We are now in our second year of fundraising.
Thank you from Interburns.
Well done to all pupils at HHS for your hard work and generosity in raising a further £1700 for our school charity Interburns! This brings the running total to an impressive £4000 in just one year! Mrs Jones, who is the representative from the charity, was delighted to receive the cheque this week when she came into talk to Year 7 about the charity and how the money we have raised has been used to help victims of burns in developing countries.
Interburns will continue to be our school charity for this academic year so keep up the hard work and let’s see if we can beat last year’s total!
The images below show what the students have been doing over the past year to support Interburns, raising an impressive £2500.
- The Guessing the Buttons in the jar competition raised over £25 for Interburns and Cancer Research. Mrs Llewellyn’s form class (7NLL) brought in gifts and prizes and collected money from other Year 7 students.
The Year 7 Cake Sale and Guess the Buttons in the Jar Competition held on the 19th June raised over £170 for Interburns
Y9 students raised over £250 with a cake sale and ‘Fill the Smarties tubes’ activity.
All pupils have also taken part in non-uniform days.
