Work Bard, Play Bard Project in Drama working with Helsby students

On 7th June directors and producers from the Work Bard, Play Bard project at the Liverpool Everyman theatre came to Helsby to work with a group of our hard working year 9 and 10 actors.

The students have been hand picked from lessons based on their continued hard work and progress in Drama.

They are preparing their interpretation of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy: Othello, and have taken part in a two hour workshop exploring the themes and issues in the play. The students were confident and dedicated throughout the two hour workshop, asking and answering questions and becoming more and more inspired to bring their version of this tale to the stage.

The students from two different year groups rehearse every Wednesday lunchtime in addition to this workshop and are working seamlessly together. Mrs Knox and Mrs Cross have been extremely impressed with the mature way in which they have worked.

Our students will be performing their Work Bard production at the Liverpool Everyman in July 2018 and their friends and families will be able to come and watch them perform with their free friends and family tickets. Their performance will be stage managed by the professional team at the theatre and the performance will also benefit from the lighting and sound designers expertise.

We are extremely proud and excited to see our students perform on this prestigious stage and know that they will do Helsby proud.

Good luck to all the students involved.
