Student Voice update

Mr S Edwards | |

Throughout the last school year, students have been consulted on a regular basis on a variety of issues, pastoral as well as academic. Pastoral issues from last year included the following:

Student quotes:

‘Having the new swipe cards to get in and out makes you feel safer in school’

‘It was good when we got listened to about mobile phones’

‘I think the new bike shelter will definitely be a good idea’

‘There are now a few more veggie options in the canteen’

‘When the Sixth Formers are wearing their ID badges its good, because they are wearing their own clothes every day’

‘The school nurse visiting in school regularly is good – and the police (PCSO’s) – but I don’t always know when they are in…… the adverts and posters in school did help’

All these represent cases where students have given their views, and school has acted upon them.

Plans for 2017/18

Will include:

  • Continuation of online Student Surveys (covering academic and pastoral)
  • Student Governor Panels
  • Student Pastoral Panels
  • Continuation of subject-specific student voice and feedback
  • Consultation on specific issues e.g. school uniform review

Parental Voice:

This will continue via:

Continuation of parental feedback opportunities at every parents evening

A reminder that PV continues to be available via Sharp system, and at any point contacting school via Year7admin@ address, (or Year8>11admin depending on the Year group), or by phone.

This year we also aim to create new opportunities for parents to come in and talk to us, where the school will be open for any visitors from our local community, including parents, to come in and share a tea or coffee with us. The first such event is planned for later in the Autumn term, and will be promoted via our website and social media platforms.
