Year 8’s football team were beaming and ready to take on second round Holy Family in the English Schools Cup. The team knew it was going to be difficult from here on in.

The boys began the game at 100mph; was this going to set the tone for the rest of the game. YES IT WAS!

Johnny Cooper sent a sensational ball from the right corner flag over the keepers head only to meet James Stamp on the head and into the back of the net. The team celebrated with James however know the job wasn’t done.

The wind was strong so the boys continued to battle the elements and again Johnny Cooper stepped up with a 40 yard range kick to put the goal hungry Helsby High in the lead by 2. The team and I looked twice to make sure Wayne Rooney didn’t step on the pitch and kick it.

Both teams continued to battle hard knowing that this was knockout football. 5 minutes to go and again Cooper caught on from a cross to volley the ball in the back of the net. This boy had a hat-trick in his sights and no one was going to stop him.
